Born on August 8 1988 to Mr Joseph Nana Yaw Boakye a truck driver and Madam Victoria Boakye a trader, Yaw Stone hails Nyankyerenease, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana .As the last of 7 siblings Yaw had his basic education at 2 Brigade primary school, moved on to Breman Roman Catholic JHS and proceeded to Assemblies of God Senior High School.
Well noted for his exceptional talent in playing the castanet with his toes whiles complimenting it harmoniously with the guitar, Yaw Stone started experimenting with music at age 13 when he formed part of the Church of Pentecost Youth choir during school days. He also formed part of the now defunct “BIG” music group between 2006-7.
After failing to make it into the Ashanti regional audition for TV3 mentor 6 on 12th November 2011, he tried again on 18th November 2012 in Sunyani but got placed on standby. He was subsequently called in on 1st January 2012 to replace an ailing contestant. He sailed through to the finals and eventually emerged the ultimate winner on March 12, 2012 taking home a cash prize and a Hyundai i10 car. Yaw Stone thereafter has released a couple of songs including “opportunity”, baby ft Guru, injection, agooji and Spanner”. He is however widely known for his popular hit “Adonko” which was used as the theme song for one one biggest selling beverages in Ghana. Yaw Stone is signed to Purple Soul Records, one of fastest growing record labels in Ghana currently.
